Fisheries academy opens in PangasinanPHILIPPINES - A training facility of the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI) was formally inaugurated at the weekend. The Asian Fisheries Academy, covers a 24-hectare site at the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) center in Bonuan Binloc.

According to The Star, Dr. Westly Rosario, BFAR center chief and executive director of NFRDI,  said that former House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. made possible the construction of the P45-million facility to support the aquaculture industry in the country by giving P30 million from his Countrywide Development Fund (CDF) to the project.

De Venecia, together with fourth district mayors like Dagupan City Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr, Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, San Jacinto Mayor Rudy Columbres, San Fabian Mayor Mojamito Libunao, Manaoag Mayor Napoleon Sales and Mangaldan Mayor Herminio Romero and other barangay officials led the inauguration.
